This Event is All Ages The foundations for Sprints were laid when Karla met guitarist Colm O’Reilly and drummer Jack Callan — childhood friends who’d been playing music together since the age of 10. Recruiting bassist Sam McCann to complete the line-up, the quartet found their sound after seeing Savages play Electric Picnic in 2016. Singer, guitarist and lead-songwriter Karla Chubb has never shied away from confronting inner turmoil. Born in Dublin, she spent a portion of her early childhood in Germany, initially turning to music as a consequence of feeling out-of-step with the world. “I lived in a constant state of existential crisis,” she recalls. “Music became an outlet for emotion, and a way for me to understand myself and society.” The dedication for Sprints’ debut album serves as a neat summation of their story so far. Transforming pain into truth, passion into purpose and perseverance into strength, the Dublin four-piece have steadily grown in stature over the last three years, sharing two acclaimed EPs and building a fearsome live reputation opening for the likes of Yard Act and Suede. Letter To Self is the sound of Sprints co levelling up once again, revisiting their most vulnerable moments and imbuing their visceral garage-punk with a palpable sense of catharsis that we can all benefit from. This Event is All Ages For the last 15 years, Allah-Las have alchemically melded surf rock washes with folk rock jangle and rock, building up their lauded music podcast, Reverberation Radio, and record label, Calico Discos, in the process. But a lot has changed since Matthew Correia (drums/vocals), Spencer Dunham (bass, guitar, vocals), Miles Michaud (guitar, organ, vocals), and Pedrum Siadatian (guitar, synth, vocals) first bonded over psych rock vinyl in the back room at Amoeba Records in the late aughts. Zuma 85 finds the quartet facing a new world with a wealth of new sounds, drawing from an eclectic mix of progressive rock, prog, kosmische, and Eno-esque art rock, scuzzy Royal Trux riffs, and detouring into tones and textures that call to mind ‘90s and 2000s pop. The Polyphonic Spree
This Event is All Ages The Polyphonic Spree began in 2000. Since then they have traversed the globe several times over (including appearances at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, Oscar de la Renta Fashion Week Runway Show, MTV Video Music Awards, Glastonbury, Summersonic, and various late night TV shows) while receiving accolades, adoration, and even a few imitators. What many outside of Dallas are unaware of is the band’s annual Holiday Extravaganza, now in it’s tenth year. To celebrate the band will finally release their first volume of holiday songs, titled Holidaydream, the group’s first full-length release since 2007’s The Fragile Army.Holidaydream: Sounds of the Holidays Volume One is not your typical, by-the-numbers holiday collection. The music within is magical, otherworldly, and at times somber. The songs captivate as they float by. A few of the songs have alternate melodies and truncated lyrics but maintain the timelessness and sentimentality of the song. With Holidaydream, Polyphonic Spree sought to channel the holiday season’s full range of moods, from joyous to melancholy. Arrangements are twisted, like on the spacey, shape-shifting “Do You Hear What I Hear” and “Silver Bells” (featuring School of Seven Bells), and melodies are morphed, as on an ethereal “Winter Wonderland,” but the spirit of the holidays remains firmly intact. Born Zachary Lewis Beck in 1988, he grew up listening to hip-hop and started writing rhymes when he was in high school. After releasing his debut mixtape in 2010, he gained notoriety for his unique sound that blended rap and hip-hop. This Event is All Ages Apes of the State is an independent folk punk band from Lancaster, PA. As a band, they are driven by DIY ethics with a goal of helping as many people as possible with their music. Their upbeat, mandolin driven songs encompass the full range of human emotion and cover topics such as love, heartbreak, student loan debt, regret, and overcoming addiction. Their most recent release, “They Can’t Kill Us All (2023)” is a 7” split record with Washington band Sister Wife Sex Strike. It leaves no room for questioning the band’s political message and evolution in sound while still sticking to their acoustic roots. The band will be joined by Sister Wife Sex Strike, a Seattle-based anarchist folk band comprised of best friends Sister Pigeon and Sister Moth- who have been yelling about the end of the world and gay sex since 2021. This Event is All Ages The Rare Occasions are an LA-based, New England-bred indie rock band known for their explosive garage rock anthems with catchy vocal harmonies. Brian McLaughlin (singer) and Luke Imbusch (drummer) have been making music together since their early teenage years.
