9Million x Graham Hunt

9million x graham hunt

This event is All Ages 9Million9Million is a Toronto alt rock/shoegaze band helmed by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer Matthew Tomasi. Best known for his work with alt-pop artists like Ethel Cain and Nicole Dollanganger, Tomasi has also gained steady notoriety in his local music community for his work as a producer and mix engineer. A tireless creator and songwriter himself, Tomasi also plays and contributes creatively to the music of countless other bands and independent artists. Tomasi along with 6 other members complete the 9Million project which includes Ace Mendoza (Lead Guitar, Vocals), Danielle Clark (Vocals, Acoustic), Lia Lepre (Keys, Percussion), Jamie Fastlane (Bass), Noah Aviles-Betel (Drums), and Looch Man (Guitar, Vocals). Tomasi says 9Million started out “as a creative outlet for myself to explore new sounds and ideas that I wasn’t touching on with any of my other projects or clients”, but quickly the project took on a collaborative spirit. Since their release of “Gush” 9Million have been touring all over North America supporting bands such as Glitterer, Cold Mega, Ethel Cain, Angel Du$t, Candy, & Fleshwater. The sound of 9Million infuses a shoegaze / alt rock foundation with elements of brooding alternative pop, indie rock, and synthwave – resulting in something that recalls ahead of their time 90s bands like Hum and Failure while connecting that sound from the past to the modern world of post-Lana Del Rey slowcore pop sound that Tomasi uniquely infuses on records like Preacher’s Daughter, Natural Born Losers, and Married In Mount Airy.  Graham HuntGraham Hunt can’t stop making records. Since 2019, the Madison, WI-based songwriter has been amassing a dense catalog of singular music at a pace rivaled only by the quality of the output itself. Now already on his sixth album, American Pyramid, Hunt pushed himself out of his comfort zones, eschewing the homespun, computer-oriented explorations of his previous work and instead entering Minnesota’s legendary Pachyderm Studio with an eight-piece band to try and capture a different side of his boundless creativity. The result is an album that stretches out musically and lyrically, with Hunt using his surrealist spin to dissect both the traditions of American indie rock as well as the unnerving detachment of the American experience itself. Fastball

fastball

This Event is All Ages   Nostalgia is easy. Easy money. Easy memories. And the peak-and-crash crash rush of the comfortable and familiar, which fades away in an instant.  Inspiration is hard. Achieving it demands vulnerability, cooperation, and a belief that the next thing you create could genuinely move someone’s soul.  Over the many years together, the men of Fastball have come to appreciate that the whole point of their careers together is building off of the trust, creativity and just plain hard work of making inspired music together. It’s a career highlighted by the early career chart-topping success of hit single “The Way,” which guitarist Miles Zuniga wryly remarks, “I like to say that ‘The Way’ gave us the freedom to continue doing what we do.”  What the band has done steadily through the years is continually hone its voice and sound, which has further evolved on its new self-titled album, recorded in far west Texas at Sonic Ranch Studio with acclaimed producer David Garza. Fastball is the fourth album the band has made during a 10-year streak that founders Zuniga, guitarist/singer Tony Scalzo, and drummer Joey Shuffield agree has seen them at their most creative and open-hearted as a trio of musicians and lifelong friends.    Listed ticket price is inclusive of all online fees. All sales are final, please review before purchasing.
