Dread Mar I
Dread Mar I
On May 24th, "Caminarás caminos" will be released, the new studio album by Dread Mar I, one of the most popular artists of Argentina and a reference of the new reggae sound in all Latin America.
It was recorded for the most part at the legendary Sunpower Studio and Anchor Studio in Jamaica. It featured the participation of renowned musicians such as Kirk Bennett (Beres Hammond´s drummer) and Carol Bowie McLaughlin (keyboardist Stephen Marley and Jimmy Cliff).
"Recording a record with Jamaicans - he says - was my dream in music. They took over the project and I remember that every night I returned to the hotel happy and happy after recording throughout the day. It was magical. I also put myself in the producer's place for the first time and the experience was amazing ".
Six additional songs were recorded in Buenos Aires, with production and arrangements shared with Matías Zapata. "They are more urban themes," he explains, "with a sound that could called reggae-trap, because we play it with many machines and we change a detail in the hi-hat of the drums. But deep down it's also reggae. "
In total, the album "Caminarás caminos" has 15 songs. The first single was "En el seno del amor ", which was launched in January and was an immediate hit that already exceeded 9 million visits in Youtube. In the middle of May "La suerte" was released, with a video clip directed by the multi-awarded Joaquín Cambre, and in a few days he reached his first million visits.
The album is an impeccable collection of great melodies and unforgettable refrains. I also know Jamaican choirs stand out in "El brillo de los dos", the electronic / pop introduction of "Quema como el fuego ", the almost eighty´s rhythm of " Vuela Alto ", and the grand piano in the ballad" Hablar por hablar". It is a disc full of details, to discover again and again.
Dread Mar-I's career has not stopped growing since its debut in 2005.
It filled the main theaters and stadiums in the country, then began a tour of the entire American continent. Last year he made an extensive and successful international tour of the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Canada.
"Caminarás caminos" is a mature and solid work by a great artist that will undoubtedly continue touring cities and countries without pause, confirming its popularity and adding new fans.
