Rituals of Mine
Rituals of Mine
An on and off recluse, Terra Lopez spent hours in her Northern California bedroom each day, recording hundreds of gritty, personal demos with her classical guitar and MPC beat machine. Staring at the ceiling of her apartment for hours each day, she taught herself how to sing by studying vocalists Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Jeff Buckley and Fiona Apple. It was during this time that Lopez started to form the sound and project idea of what would eventually become Rituals of Mine. Shortly after, Lopez met percussionist Dani Fernandez and the two quickly bonded over hip-hop and the MPC. Inseparable from there on out, the two started collaborating and word spread quickly about the project on the West Coast. Over the years, the project has gone through several lineup changes with the addition of keys and live drums.

The duo received international praise from music circles including The BBC, Pitchfork, The Fader, Rolling Stone, Interview Magazine and more with their releases Bellow (Manimal Vinyl) and the Cynic EP (Fake Four Inc). Almost immediately after the release of Cynic, the duo decided to shift focus and hone in to center more towards the project’s founding members assets: vocals and beat production. The two started to focus directly on the electronic elements of their music, centering more on Lopez’s dynamic, powerful vocal range while utilizing heavy beats and haunting melodies.

With the addition of live drummer Adam Pierce, Rituals of Mine’s live show comes across as a dynamic, intense, passionate performance which has been known to leave an emotional impact on their audiences. Having toured nationally for years with acts Built to Spill, Antemasque, Doomtree, Le Butcherettes, The Album Leaf and Maps & Atlases, Rituals of Mine have been able to build a devoted and incredibly loyal fan base.

In the Summer of 2015, the duo teamed up with Wes Jones and Omar Rodriguez Lopez (The Mars Volta, At The Drive In) to create Devoted, their highly anticipated debut full length. The single “Your Girl” was chosen as Song of the Month by Starbucks Mexico followed by premieres on After Ellen.com and Impose Magazine. The band is currently sponsored by clothing company Rebel 8, Official Crown of Laurel, Red Bull, and Roland.
