Gill Landry creates a dark, atmospheric western with ‘Denver Girls’

Gill Landry will be at Harlow’s Dec. 5 with Valerie June.

Break ups are rough. The ending of a serious relationship, however, can be absolutely devastating. Gill Landry had to go through this experience recently and out of it came his latest album Love Rides a Dark Horse. Landry is mostly known for his work with Old Crow Medicine Show, but he has excelled as a solo artist for some time and his latest album is further proof. He takes his americana and folk background and moves it over to the Old West. His solo material is bleak cowboy poetry from the desert as much as it is contemplative folk straight from the mountains.

The last song Landry wrote for the album was “Denver Girls,” which has received the video treatment. Head over to PopMatters to read on what Landry says the song means to the album as a whole and be sure to check out the video below.

Landry will be touring with Valerie June this winter and the two make a stop at Harlow’s on Dec. 5. Get tickets and all the information you need here.
