Another Friday means another album release day. It’s like a weekly birthday where your gift is new music from tons of artists. This week sees new albums from JD McPherson, Wild Ones, Gill Landry and Anuhea.
JD McPherson – Undivided Heart & Soul
McPherson has seen growing popularity coming from each album. His first album hit no. 47 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart and his second ended up being no. 17. If the trend keeps up, then Undivided Heart & Soul might just reach that coveted top spot. Listen to the album below and don’t miss him when he’s at Harlow’s with Nikki Lane on Oct. 9.
Wild Ones – Mirror Touch
Wild Ones are quickly becoming indie darlings with their particular brand of Pacific Northwest-based dream pop. Mirror Touch sees the quartet expand on their sound that is both progressive, modest and laden with that hazy atmosphere that puts the “dream” in dream pop. Wild Ones will be supporting Tennis at Harlow’s on Nov. 27.
Gill Landry’s solo career has seen the former Old Crow Medicine Show member bring mature and rugged folk with a hint of alt-country and blues. Love Rides a Dark Horse is Landry’s fourth album is a winning continuation for the singer as he explores some of the darker corners of the human experience with honesty and modesty. Landry is touring with Valerie June and will be with her at Harlow’s on Dec. 5.
Follow Me is further proof that Anuhea is one of Hawaiian music’s brightest stars. She is somehow able to blend Hawaiian music with modern R&B and folk pop to make a sound that is really all her own. She is back at Harlow’s for her All is Bright Tour on Dec. 13.
